Who are J & J

The J&J Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by two people who have experienced profound loss.

Roni Lowery lost her son Justin when the illness of addiction led to his life ending.

Charles Brignall lost his sister Julie when postpartum psychosis led to her life ending as well.

Two different tragedies.

Two families forever changed.

One shared purpose: to help others before another family has to experience this heartbreak.

Justin was a loving, sensitive young man with a beautiful heart and a spirit that touched everyone who knew him. He had dreams, goals, and so much life still ahead of him. He was just 24 years old. To his mom, he wasn’t a statistic, he was her son, deeply loved beyond words, and a part of her heart that will always be missing.

Julie was someone people naturally gravitated toward, a woman of deep faith, kindness, and strength. After the birth of her twins, she suffered from postpartum psychosis, a severe mental health illness that tragically led to her death.

After losing Justin and Julie, Roni and Charles made a promise: their loved ones’ stories would not end in tragedy alone — their lives would become part of something that helps save others.

Together they founded The J&J Foundation, named in Justin and Julie’s honor, with one simple mission: No one should ever be turned away from treatment because they cannot afford help.

Because when someone finds the courage to say “I’m ready,” that moment cannot wait.

Through their work, Justin and Julie’s legacy lives on — helping others find hope, healing, and the chance at a different ending.
